One of the VIX ETNs is up and running.The one month VIX futures ETN has ticker VXX and the five month VIX futures ETN was supposed to have ticker VXY but that is not working on Yahoo or Schwab.
If anyone knows anything about what is supposed to be VXY, please leave a comment.
UPDATE UPDATE
The five month version has ticker VXZ. My bad. VXX (the shorter one) has a lot more volume than VXZ.

If memory serves, I seem to recall a comment/post by you that you're not a fan of either of these products. Upon reflection, I can't really see any constructive use in 'em either, in terms of portfolio construction.
Am I missing something?

Jan that is right. I am unlikely to use them. We'll see how they perform but my first reaction is probably not.
I'm pleased to see these trading and hope it's a sign that we're nearing the end of the unusual volatility in the market. Personally, though, I wouldn't get anywhere near them: Occam's Heater.
