Barclays Global to advise 5 new index funds - MarketWatch
That is what we have this morning on the island so I am getting more reading done today.
I found the above link. iShares has filed for the following;
iShares Chile
iShares Thailand
iShares Turkey
iShares BRIC
iShares Israel
I have been a big fan of Chile for ages but it probably will not exposure to the big miners like Codelco.

Wonder what they will call a new ETF indexing Spain,Hungary,Italy and Turkey?
LOL, if they add Argentina and Romania they can call it ISHTAR.
I maintain a position in The Chile Fund (CH) in my taxable account. It's no great shakes IMO, maybe a bit less volatile than the broader emerging markets.
18% Empresas Copec S.A.
15% Empresa Nacional de Electricidad S.A.
12% Empresas CMPC S.A.
7% Enersis S.A.
5% Cencosud S.A.
It has a very low correlation to the price of copper:

News travels fast, I just was reading the same Marketwatch coverage and read their SEC filings and posted here.
I would like to do some more research on the performance of the indexes before comparing them with what is already out there.
This is off topic, but can anyone recommend a book, web site, etc. that explains selling puts and other options etc. The simpler the better. Thanks all
Roger, this is great news. I've posted some thoughts regarding lazy portfolios and a US recession a few days ago and have mentioned Chile and Turkey. I doubt you have any news regarding ETFs for Vietnam, Estonia and Iceland, do you?
Roger.
I have heard some good things about future equity markets in India. Are there any ETF's or index funds yet that track India? I checked my prospectus' from Wisdom Tree and iShares and couldn't find anything that directly tracks there.
And what do you think about their economic future?
Anonymous, did you check out iPath MSCI India ETN (INP) yet? It's an exchange traded note, aka tracking the index...
i own a small position in the India Fund IFN.
great news for us Chileans.. I wonder how and wich stocks will it use.. ADR? or local stocks?
That'll boost even more the IPSA, good news.
Roy: i recommend you change your Cencosud with La Polar, cheaper ratios, and CMPC and Copec are both Forestry, maybe you'll like to diversify more buying other sector.. also Enersis is the Holding of Endesa.
Alex O.: i've been looking for a Vitnam ETF too, haven't found any news about it.. Saw Roger posted on your blog about VTOPF and also few clients in here hold Vietnam Opp Fund, but an ETF will be greatly appreciated.

I really like your new blog,- hope everyone checks it out.

Some one asked earlier about the Indian ETFs. There are several options including IFN, IIF, INP and other BRIC based ETFs. Check out the series on India here. Another place is Seeking Alpha

Anonymous,
Yeah, It's called 'Getting screwed by a Market Maker'. You basically pay huge commissions and sell on bid/ buy the ask. Huge spread and geared towards taking all your money. Play options and you will lose all your money buddy.
