Getting video to play is not easy just yet but I was able to get through most of it and learned a little bit.Pakistan could be years away from being a viable investment destination but there is no question it will become a more important country in the global economy. I think it worth the time spent now reading or watching the occasional bit that you can so that when there are multiple choices you will have built up some real knowledge so that you can make an informed decision about whether this is for you or not.
This is true of a lot of countries.

Roger, what's your opinion of the
Canadian energy trusts, after their
recent tax-related correction?
Jay Charles
I have always thought these were risky and have avoided them. I am unlikely to dabble here.
Jay...Bill Cara posted a research report on his blog billcara.com re: the Canadian Energy Trusts.
For my own part, I thought the debacle a buying opportunity (this is not a buy recommendation) and picked up ERF. It has since climbed back a bit, and I've made just slightly north of 9% return plus two dividend cycles.
If you read the research report on Bill's site, you will be knowledgeable of some of inherent risks. The easy bounce may be over, and all of the these trusts will be vulnerable to any downward correction in the event of oil moving south.

After watching for sometime, I've initiated a position in KB (Kookmin Bank). I've owned and done well with this stock before. If all of the bad news regarding KEB (Korean Exchange Bank) and Lone Star Funds' alleged illegalities of buying the bank's grossly undervalued assets through collusions and other mischief.
My thesis is that they will benefit from continued Asian economic recovery, they will benefit from China's growth given their proximity and they will offer a bit of a USD hedge.

Jay, I inadvertently mislead due to my poor memory. It was a recent newspaper article that I've noted above. You still may find it useful.
Leisa,
I have trouble getting behind Korea but that is just me and obviously is has a big weight in the ADRE I own personally and for clients.
One thing it has going for it is big up year in 2005, not much net change in 2006 could make for a good 2007? That is a thesis I have seen for Japan so why not South Korea?
Hmmm, Somalia or Pakistan which one to invest in?...all these tough decisions.
Definitely want to avoid those powdered milk factories.
Never thought Pakistan would come up!
My mother country- has had a great run, growing 5%+ GDP. good stuff
