I am borrowing this from somewhere, but I don't know where. Did you see the hedge fund debate at the start of Closing Bell? They had Jason Mandel from HM Fund.com, whom I have written about before, and Andrew Weiss from Weiss Asset Management.
Mandel is a fund of hedge funds guy. He literally never let Weiss finish a sentence. He just kept interrupting and talking over Weiss. The last time I wrote about Mandel I said he looked foolish. He's two for two.
While I could be wrong I do not see the value of a fund of funds and if you are a fund of funds person you better get on the horn with CNBC and get yourself on to defend the concept because Mr. Mandel is doing a huge disservice to this slice of the industry.

I saw that "debate" too and remember thinking to myself "what a jerk". The guy is a leach in every sense of the word.
A jerk, for sure. And so much of cable TV shows are filled with uncivil discussions. Would anyone want their child to act in such a way?

I know Andy well - he handled it much better than I would have.
I know Mandel professionally. He is a good guy. I saw him again yesterday on CNBC with Herb Greenberg and he was great. Regarding the over-reaction from Andy, Mandel told me that the producers on the show told them to interupt each other whenever a point was made that they disagreed with. They wanted a debate and Mandel gave them a debate. He has appeared several times on CNBC since and been very calm. It is interesting to note that CNBC has invited Mandel back several times but not Andy. I think they believe Andy lost his cool. Wall Street is a tough place. We need more straight talking guys like Mandel around.
I agree. I think Jason is a great guy. Infinitely smarter than most of you know-it-alls. Why not spend some time talking with the guy personally before you rip him. Why don't YOU just shut up Roger? Jerk!

Occasionally I look at your blog for a laugh. You are probably the dumbest broker I know. I bet most of your readers are like me and read your blog as an indicator of what a mindless broker is thinking.
I recently became a client of Mandel's HM Ruby Fund, LP. The best thing you ever did was to highlight Jason Mandel for your readers. I've never seen such an amazing return. Do you even know what an "ABL Fund" is? I didn't think so....
Maybe you should find a new career!
