Readers Help?
I want to ask readers for a favor. I recently emailed the New Zealand Stock Exchange (NZX) about a product they offer locally called Smartshares. These are similar to ETFs and while not available in the US the NZX said they are exploring the economics of making them available to US investors. The favor I am asking is to email the NZX to ask about his. There are so few commodity based economies that are developed countries that I think more than one way to access the country would be very beneficial. You can also go to www.smartshares.nz.com Thanks everyone!

I don't know if you have touched on this, but everbank offer FDIC insured protected (you're not protected from fall in currency) New Zealand cd's. They currently pay 5.35% for 3 months, strangely longer terms pay lower.

This may not be a bad way to keep cash and to the extent the strength of the economy (and the weakness of the dollar) is relfected in the currency may be a way to reap something from New Zealand.
Great info, thanks David!
